Book Excerpt: After many years of feeling fragmented and feeling torn between seemingly conflicting interests, I have created for myself a life that is whole, fulfilling, happy, and in one of my former classmates' words, integrated. Using the lancet of self inquiry, I have finally arrived at my true purpose in life. A purpose that is no longer dictated by anyone else's expectation but my own. A purpose with a meaning that pulses in every cell of my body and is therefore an expression of true freedom which can only be realized by first acknowledging our bondage to who we think we are: our ego's definition, which is a fraction of our true Self. Many of us will go through years of seemingly random, sometimes painful events that do not make logical sense. It takes fearlessness to navigate through the path that is our life, on this planet, in this lifetime. Our minds go here and there, our egos want this and that, and then they both get tired of what it is we thought we wanted. Very often, as soon as our egos get satisfied, it wants something else. Our egos always want something new. Something to entertain itself with.For many years I was there too, but no longer. Yes, I do acknowledge my ego's needs and desires and I know when my mind is wandering from one task to another, yet behind all this drama that my ego creates for its own entertainment, lies an observer that simply says, "Go ahead, make your day. " That observer, our higher Self, is the divine in all of us just waiting to be heard, waiting to be felt and, ultimately, waiting to be expressed. When we have perceived, acknowledged, honored, welcomed, and embraced this divine Self as who we really are, our lives begin to take on a different meaning. We feel whole and we realize that all those seemingly random events in our lives were simply a proof of perfection in motion, for all of those events brought us here and now, in this moment.
